Far-right violence: our statement

Law Centres condemn the racism, Islamophobia and anti-migrant hatred that are driving the recent violence and threats. These run against everything we stand for as lawyers, as charities, and as people.

Law Centres work to build a just and equal society, one that works for everyone. At the heart of what we do is the dignity of every person, and the respect we all deserve.

We stand with migrants and for the right to seek sanctuary—it is our professional duty as lawyers to defend that right. None of us should live in fear, whatever our background.

Our communities already shun this violence. We call on the new government to tackle the hatred and racism that drive it, restore order, and build a safer, more inclusive future for us all.
